Heavy Pour on Chipboard

So I mentioned yesterday I would get back to you on the chipboard pour.  I keep my promises (mostly).   I had a really hard time leaving this thing alone yesterday.  I kept checking on it like maybe it could grow wings and fly off or something.  It did dry nicely though over night.  Not any great movement in the pour.  Very little warping of the chipboard, which REALLY surprised me.  I was expecting a very distorted piece of hot mess this morning.

This is the original pour.
Now this one is the dried version.  It will look
much better with a varnish.

I also played a little with left over paint by pouring
onto these plate chargers from Dollar Tree.
As you might imagine they are still very wet.  I accidentally drug my shirt tail
through the silver one when I was reaching over it a minute ago.
I am beginning to question if they will ever dry.  stay tuned.

That's all I really have for you today.  Oh, I also pulled my Alcohol inks out and played on some YUPO paper yesterday.  It's a new way to play with those.  I want to play around some more before sharing that little experiment.

Ya'll have a great week.  I'll talk to you later.

Simple can be a struggle sometimes.

The End...of a challenging week!  Finally!

So its not that I work a demanding job anymore but darn it, life can feel so demanding sometimes.  Anyway, all's well that end's well, right!

I wanted to create so many times this week but either there was no time or I was just so tired.  I did make a lot of notes for future post, so I am going to count that as some creation.

Hubs asked for a canvas pour that would match as close as possible to his drum kit.  I tacked that today.  His plan is to use it as a back drop for some drum sticks he wants to save.  I personally think the sticks will get lost in the pattern but that's still to be determined.  Take a look, let me know what you think.

My painting to compliment the drums

I really liked how the black, white, grey and silver poured.  My original thought was tree ring pour but then I didn't want the circular pattern.  I settled on a side to side motion to achieve the patterned strips, easy peasy.

With a that done I had a whole lot of the black and white mixture left over, so I tried a flower again with the B&W as the center and then a dirty pour tree ring action over a plastic bottle using the rainbow colors.
Below is what came of that plan.  It wasn't too bad but just had no actual attraction so I flicked some silicone stuff over it to create the cells, now we got some interest.

I still had a load of the B&W mix so I did another pour with the red/orange/yellow as the center.  The B&W mix was then used over the plastic bottle bottom for a flower attempt. This was done on the 12x12 chipboard.  It will be the most paint I've attempt on this stuff, fingers crossed it works out ok.  I will report back on this tomorrow after it's had a bit of time to dry.

Well folks, that's really all I have today.  Not really exciting or anything but there is always tomorrow!  Have a great weekend!

Revitalization of a Blog

So what is it you really want to do...?

Hi there!  I started this mission, gosh, about 9 years ago.  My idea was to entertain myself with my arts and crafts, then put out into the universe by way of a blog.  I was very lonely then and felt cut off from everything.  I posted a little then felt why am I bothering, no one cares.  So it drifted away, life got busy and I wasn't so lonely, I tried again with I think 2 posts.  That didn't last long either, I felt even more defeat and then, life got super crazy busy.  Family moved up, family grew by leaps and bounds.  Let the good times roll I am one happy Nana.

Now I just want to try yet again to leave some kind of legacy for my grandchildren and the ones that come after.  Who knows, maybe this format will outlast us all (ya I don't believe that either).

I'm not sure how I want to kick this all off other than what I mentioned above and to let you know I feel this third try might just be the charm, so stick around.  I've explored so many different arts in the last several years.  Its hard to say which is my favorite because they each bring something unique to me.  I can get bored with something after awhile, we all do right?!  Then I want to try something new and different or take something to a higher level.  My Achilles heel.... supplies and the ole might dollar!

So to fight the Money Monster, I am making myself a challenge to create my art and crafts then try to sell them and at least keep the activity paying for itself, not necessarily to make a profit, although folks, I am not adverse to making money, just saying.

If you see some of my work and are interested in the particular piece or would like to maybe commission something, just shoot me an email and we will take it from there.  Once I feel more stable with this format I'll have to see about expanding somehow to sell the production either with a store connected to the blog or Etsy etc...  not sure yet.

So get set, with the revitalization of the blog.  Give me some feed back too.  I started by changing up the color scheme to make it easier on the eyes to read, if that's wrong let me know, we'll see.  Just keep in mind my desire in the format is to show case the work more than anything so I thought neutral was the best choice.

hugs of love,
KimB 😘

ps.  here are just a few things I've done since my last post.  Enjoy.
